Are you still waiting for the economy to recover?
We all have plans to invest in our online businesses. The thing is, they’re on hold, right? Who can afford to spend money in this economy? When sales improve and budgets loosen up, then you’ll implement those plans. I hear you. Trouble is while your plans stalled, others shifted gears.
Let me tell you a secret only website developers know. Your competition are busy updating their websites … now! They are investing in SEO to increase traffic and site redesigns to increase engagement and conversion to turn that new traffic – your customers – into their customers. While you’re blocking the box, they’re changing lanes.
I was thinking of redeveloping my site this year and I thought to go live with August/September. So when do you think I should actually start getting quotes?
The average quote cycle is about 2 weeks provided you are ready to make a decision once you receive a quote.
The average site development is 4-6 weeks.
So you are looking at 2 months until handover of a site for you to test.
Say you take a couple of weeks to test it and iron out the bugs. Then you take another couple of weeks to get your content ready.
Now you are talking 3 months. Add a risk factor of another month brings you to 4 months from Quote to Go Live.
So it is almost end March now. 4 months take you to end July.
So I would say get your thoughts together on what you want to achieve from a redevelopment and start getting a quote now.
Hope that helps!
