osCommerce Multistores
Our multistore module works of an underlying template system that allows you to control design per store.
Our base module allows you to set up a store as either a domain or sub-domain and then within the Admin panel define the store characteristics:
- Identify its URL
- Upload a store logo
- Identify the store theme
- Identify the store email address
- Set the store page title and description
- Control which payment modules that can be used
- Control which shipping modules that can be used
- Control which Categories are being sold
- Control which Products within a Category that are to be sold (via an exception/not sold method).
Stores can share a theme or have a unique theme.
Banners and Information pages (if you have them) are set up to belong to a particular Store.
Customers are shared across stores. Orders can be filtered by store.
We use our Store Module as a building block customizing it for each implementation. So other things to consider include:
- Pricing, do all stores sell at same price?
- Sales, do they work across store or do you need to control per store?
- Coupons, do they work on any store or are they store based?
- Reports, what reports do you need to see per store?
Affiliate stores offer even more issues to be resolved in terms of what order and sales information is provided to them and how transparent it is to be to the end customer that order fulfillment is being done by a third party. And to add further complexity is the need for some affiliate to sell other products or to maintain their own content. Nothing is simple once you open the door to a third party running a store. But nothing is too complex that it cannot be done.
