Approach

Our approach to SEO is different from most people’s. We consider SEO as part of a customer’s normal business operations and we like to put them in control of it. So we basically try and teach you to fish rather than give you a fish.

We develop an SEO strategy with you that gets translated into an action plan. Some actions will be technical/programming changes and we would do them. All others we expect you to do with coaching from us. So this falls into the category of site content including internal links and backlinks from other sites. We advise how to go about doing these tasks.

For content and internal links, we provide examples and then you take over. We review what you have done, suggest revisions and off you go.

With backlinks, we tell you how to go about finding suitable targets but it is up to you to source them and obtain the links.

Scope

Our focus is natural search not PPC but we can factor in your PPC program when analysing your site if you wish.

Methodology

To develop the SEO strategy we look at:

  1. Your business objectives
  2. Your target demographic
  3. Your site and its perceived competition (up to 5 sites)
  4. Your target keywords
  5. A sampling of your categories, brands and products.

We provide a report that covers:

  • How well your site is supporting your business objectives
  • Who your real competition is and how you site compares to theirs
  • What your keyword strategy should be
  • What you need to do to optimize for these keywords
  • What technical SEO issues you have and how to rectify them.

In support of the report, we will provide:

  • a mockup of any proposed redesign
  • a spreadsheet analysing your current keyword positions
  • a spreadsheet you can use to track future keyword positions
  • a detailed task list with resource and effort assignments.

The average report is about 20 pages. You get to review it in draft form. We have a phone meeting to discuss its findings to ensure you understand and agree them. It then gets finalized based on that discussion.

Cost and Schedule

The cost to prepare an SEO Strategy is site dependent. Costs start from $1200.

Turn around time for the report is 10 – 15 days.

Additional Costs

You can expect further costs in terms of implementation:

1. Programming tasks – these will be specific changes to the site design and code to support your strategy
2. Development of specific site content, as agreed in the draft review – generally this might be home page content and sample category and product descriptions
3. Coaching fees – this is a monthly fee over a 2-3 month period we estimate to implement the plan
4. SEO Review – a report that not only reviews the success of the work done but also suggests what you could do next.

After the project you should not need any further coaching in SEO. You can continue to do it yourself putting as much or as little effort as you like into it. or you can continue to work with us to keep refining your SEO approach.
