Exclusively Home sells Modern and Contemporary furniture.  When we first met them they were using Channel Advisor, a proprietary pay by the month hosted eCommerce solution.  While great for some, Exclusively Home found that the limitations of a closed source solution were hampering further growth.  So they approached ozEworks to use osCommerce to replicate their current site - which we did. 

At that time, they were working with an Internet Marketing company to optimize the site.   It was not long before they forwarded a list of code changes that were basically from the SEO 101 play list and, ironically, not actually relevant to this particular site.  After talking EH through the issues, they asked us to take over the SEO of their new osCommerce site.

ozEworks does not do SEO like other companies.  We are not into signing you up for $2000 a month forever.  We’re not even into signing you up for $200 a month for ever. We’re not blind. We can see the revenue potential of a recurring income business model.  We’re just not into making customers dependent on us. We’re more of the “teach a man to fish“, rather than “give him a fish“ philosophy. So we explained to EH what using ozEworks for SEO would mean to them. 

We would develop a formal documented SEO Strategy which would provide them with not only an in depth analysis of their current SEO status but also a detailed task list telling them how to optimize their site.  We would not be doing it for them.   Of course, we’d make any technical changes that were identified but they would have to do their own content and links.  But the SEO Strategy was essentially stand alone, they did not need to use our services to implement any of it.

We explained that what we do offer in terms of implementation is coaching on how their tasks should be done. In order for the SEO coaching approach to succeed, you need a key person who is willing and able to be coached.  They had such as a person and so we agreed this could work for them. 

We coaching EH over a 3 month period. During that time, they optimized the site and achieved page #1 ranking for the majority of their keywords.  In fact they rank #2-#3 for all their brands right after the actual brand’s own site.   They went from ranking outside #200 to position #32 for “contemporary furniture” and #45 for  ”modern furniture”.  Both terms are amongst the toughest in the furniture industry.  They also lifted their home page rank from 3 to 5.  

So what is the bottom line? Comparing revenue from Jan 2008 to Jan 2009, they have achieved an incredible 450%  increase in sales.  For a first stage SEO project, their results were astounding.

And their feedback? “ You really need to start advertising this service. I would heavily endorse it.”.
